Bella Voce invites you to our next program, Christmas with the Baroque Masters, a two-city concert collaboration with Madison Bach Musicians.
Bella Voce’s artistic director Andrew Lewis will lead the two concerts. The program’s centerpiece is Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s Messe de minuit pour Nöel—a radiant and rarely performed Baroque gem inspired by traditional French carols—. Along with choral works by Heinrich Schütz and Guillaume Bouzignac, the program includes a Magnificat setting by Isabella Leonarda, Arcangelo Corelli’s Concerto Grosso “Christmas Night,” and George Frideric Handel’s Organ Concerto in Bb Major featuring soloist Trevor Stephenson, artistic director of Madison Bach Musicians.
Performed by the Bella Voce Chorus and the period-instrument virtuosi of Madison Bach Musicians, the afternoon concerts will be presented in Madison Sat. Dec. 13 and in Evanston Sun. Dec. 14, offering audiences an opportunity to experience the artistry of two premier Midwestern ensembles dedicated to early music excellence. Trevor Stephenson will deliver a pre-concert lecture at both performances. Last year’s joint concerts attracted capacity audiences in both venues. Reserve your seat today!
