"I’m Carly Klein Schoening, and for as long as I can remember, it’s been my dream to be a successful singer. I remember sitting in my red booster seat while my mom drove me to preschool and singing along to the radio, knowing that that’s what I wanted to do. I didn’t have a doubt in my mind. When I was 6 years old, I wrote my first song, and although I wouldn’t be upset if "You, You, You" never saw the light of day, I know that that is where my fascination snowballed. I didn’t really think anything of writing songs at first, being so young and assuming that every singer I heard on the radio wrote their own songs, but as I got older, it started to dawn on me just how important it would be to me as a person. I wrote all the time, and when I finally turned 10, after I ruthlessly harassed my parents, I got a guitar for my birthday. That’s when songwriting stopped being a hobby and started becoming an obsession. However, I was 10 and could not figure out for the life of me how to play, so I started taking lessons from my elementary school custodian, Mr. Anderson. My first time ever singing for anyone was at a hockey game right after I turned 12 years old, where I sang the national anthem, and I’ve been playing at every fair, business, and festival I can get my hands on since." - Carly
