Join us for a ride through the beautiful blooming mountain laurel. One of our absolute favorite times of year to trail ride! Held at the Haldeman tract of Weiser State Forest just between Halifax PA and Elizabethville PA. Only an hour from places like York, Sunbury, Carlisle and Lebanon!
The trails are a great variety of grass, dirt, stones, small rocks and some stone road crossings. Highly recommend front shoes or trail boots for a happy horse. This year we are offering the 6 mile course we did last fall and also a longer 8-9 mile course as an option for those who want a longer ride.
A paperchase is a fun way to go take a trail ride with friends along a well marked trail and have a little competition element added in! We will have different divisions so keep an eye out for updates. All jumps/obstacles will be optional with the exception of a few very low logs that any horse can step over at a walk. This paperchase will be done as a “pace” - we will average the times of the groups to find the “optimum time” and then place our teams off of that. Groups of 2-4.
Proceeds from this event will go towards the non-profit Graceful Acres. A horse therapy program that encourages healing and growth through horsemanship. You can check out their Facebook, Instagram and YouTube to learn more about what they do to help youth and persons with disabilities!
$40 per rider. We will post signup soon for those of you who want to reserve your ride time. Keep in mind, the faster groups usually sign up for the earlier times and the slower groups usually sign up for the later times but you are welcome to sign your group up wherever you want! Just please be courteous when passing other groups. We look forward to seeing you!!
