Join us as we come together to remember and honor the life of Karter, lovingly known as Splash.
We’ll gather at Crawford Plains School at 9 am for a free breakfast and registration by donation. At 11 AM, we fire up the engines and begin our memorial ride.
Our first stop is Terwillegar Rec Centre, where we’ll light a candle in remembrance of all those we’ve lost. From there, we’ll ride a scenic route, making a stop in Warburg for fuel and snacks, before ending the ride at Blackjacks Roadhouse to gather with Karter’s family and loved ones.
Karter was just 5 years old when he was diagnosed with DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma)—a rare and terminal brain tumor located in the brainstem. This aggressive cancer cannot be surgically removed due to its location. The only available treatment is radiation to slow its growth, and even then, the survival rate beyond two years is only 10%.
There is no cure. Clinical trials are often conducted outside the country and come with high costs—costs that families must carry alone, with little to no financial support.
Karter passed away on July 23, 2023. That September, we hosted his first Annual Memorial Ride—a tradition we continue to keep his memory alive, raise awareness for DIPG, and build momentum toward becoming an official nonprofit (we are now a registered nonprofit).
Our mission is to raise funds for childhood brain cancer research and to provide financial support to families facing the overwhelming burden of travel and treatment for their children.
Let’s ride for Karter. Let's every child battling cancer. Let’s ride for a cure. Let's ride for hope.
