Holyrood Community League hosts Treaty 6 Day, Tipi Teachings

Join us at outside the Holyrood Community League to recognize Treaty Day where we have a tipi teaching led by Kyle Campiou. All our welcome on August 23, 2025.

What is Treaty No. 6 Recognition Day? On August 23, 1876, the Plains Cree, Woods Cree, Nakota Sioux, Saulteaux, and Dene people met with Crown representatives at Fort Carlton to enter into Treaty No. 6. The traditional name of Edmonton is amiskwaciwâskahikan, meaning Beaver Hills House, and is located on Treaty No. 6 territory.
