Spark! the Future: Empowering Youth through Arts Education

Info: As the doors to the Cascadia Art Museum open, guests are invited to explore the exhibits at their leisure while enjoying a selection of heavy appetizers prepared by Epulo Restaurant. A variety of beverages—including wine, beer, and a specialty cocktail—will be available at the bar. The evening begins with the smooth and vibrant sounds of the Mountlake Terrace High School Jazz Combo, setting a celebratory tone as guests begin to browse the silent auction offerings.

Info: Spark! Creativity Founder Tanya Sharp will officially welcome guests and offer opening remarks. She’ll share reflections on the organization’s inaugural year and express gratitude to the community, educators, donors, and volunteers who helped make the program possible.

Info: This year’s featured guest and headliner, Scarlet Scott—a Jackson High School student and We Speak Co-Finalist—will take the stage to perform a live reading of her poem, “Perspective.” Scarlet’s work is a shining example of how creative writing empowers youth voices. Her poem is currently displayed at both the Mill Creek Library and City Hall, where it will remain on view for a year. This moving performance will be a highlight of the evening, offering a glimpse into the profound impact of arts education.

Info: Guests will be invited to watch a moving short film that captures the stories, art, and voices of the students and educators involved in the program’s first year. This video celebrates the transformative effect of accessible arts education in our community.

Info: The live auction begins with bids supporting different funding levels designed to sustain and expand Spark! Creativity’s programs in schools. Proceeds will directly benefit various tiers of the Teaching in the Schools initiative, enabling arts education to reach more classrooms and inspire more students.
