Summer Solstice is a day of transformation. In this magical moment of the year, the light triumphs over the darkness - in Scotland, it barely gets dark on that day!
At the same time, this also signals the beginning of the end. From here onwards, days starts getting shorter and we are reminded that what once grew into its full power has to die.
Join us for a beautiful day in the garden, full of fun, reflection, workshop, and celebration. This is also when we celebrate The Salisbury Centre volunteers and acknowledge the community as a whole.
Please see the below for the detailed plan of the day. Link to book specific workshops and leave donations is in the "Tickets" button

12:00 – 1:30 PM: SOLSTICE TALES AND WREATH MAKING IN THE GARDEN
Drop-in, you can leave a donation via Eventbrite.
Come for some semi-structured time to hang out together in the garden. Bring flowers to make wreaths and solstice tales from where you come from! Drinks and snacks will be provided.
12:00 – 1:30 PM: IDEAS START WITH A SPARK: FREEWRITING WORKSHOP
Booking required
Freewriting is a practice that engages the subconscious. Together, participants will engage with sources and materials, before taking time to reflect and free write.
Jumpin’ thoughts, bad grammar, creative spelligns, half written sentences, and paragraphs with no end in sight are all welcome in this workshop. The ambition is to share skills that will support participants to build their own freewriting practice. A practice that can be used to engage with materials creatively, reflect, generate new ideas, and open up our curious minds.
1:30 – 3:00 PM: SHARED LUNCH & VOLUNTEER CELEBRATION
Drop-in.
This is a community lunch – an opportunity to connect over shared meal. Food will provided for The Salisbury Centre volunteers & facilitators. Others – please bring your own! In this part, we will celebrate and thank our volunteers.

Booking required.
In this workshop, you will be invited to explore what trauma means to you and others through a series of individual, pair and group practices and conversations. We will safely and gently experience how trauma feels in the body and how it shapes our perceptions and feelings.
We will discuss the difference between ‘Big T’ and ‘Little T’ trauma, how many of our beliefs originate from childhood and how we can transform our beliefs into alignment with our authentic self through present moment awareness and self-regulating practices.
4:30 – 6:00 PM: COMMUNITY SOLSTICE FIRESIDE SHARING
Drop-in, you can leave a donation via Eventbrite.
A group conversation around the fire to bring our journeys together and integrate the day. This will conclude the community celebration for the day – however, there are two more workshops remaining!

A WORD ON DONATIONS
Participation in community-led events at the Salisbury Centre is often on a voluntary ‘by donation’ basis. This means that nobody is expected to make a payment if they cannot afford to do so.
However, any donations received will be shared between the Centre and the facilitator, helping to make the events’ programme sustainable as well as to provide some reciprocity towards community facilitators’ time and skills offered.
Where a “suggested donation” is listed, this is just an indication of what the event might cost if it was ticketed – it is fine to donate less (or nothing at all). Donating is one way to show your appreciation for the value of the Salisbury Centre. Please consider ‘paying it forward’ by donating a bit extra if you can afford, helping to keep it possible for everyone to take part, regardless of their circumstances. T
his is an invitation to practice ‘Dana’ (generosity) – please pay only what you can afford to attend. If you cannot afford a donation, please get in touch by emailing:
