This 6 WEEK COURSE of BELLYBASICS CLASSES unfolds the fundamentals of many styles of bellydancing, from the starting point of breath work and grounding to building a strong foundation and more intricate & complex movement vocabulary, you'll be taught by Lindsey Marie Silver, of "Bellydancingbarbie" fame and Principal Teacher & Founder of Sahara Studio, Scotland's Official Home of Bellydance.
In Lindsey's 20+ years of captivating professional performance and gold standard teaching, she has by now taught and liberated thousands of women all over the world. Many regard Lindsey's unique combination of dance fitness and wellness offerings and natural intuitive & transformative approach as life affirming and speak of a life changing experience. As a result, BellyBasics with Lindsey is more than just a dance class!
WARNING: This class will change the way you dance, forever! This has been scientifically proven in Lindsey's published 2009 research paper "Can Bellydance Improve Motor Function in Adult Women?" Copies of this paper are available to read.
The first class begins with a sisterhood circle and complimentary Arabian tea relaxing together and tailoring the course to your aims. This is followed by the learning of one of the underpinning movement elements of bellydance, exploring correct, safe, health giving and truly beautiful technique. We then dance this movement element up to speed, using specific methods to strengthen the neurological pathways in the brain and sinking the pattern of movement into your memory. We gradually build on this week-by-week throughout the course with new movement elements added from the syllabus into your repertoire. You'll have improved posture and be shimmying from week one!
We also have an almost ridiculous amount of fun, giggles and laughter in classes too! As those who've experienced Lindsey's teaching will tell you!

As reported by the Edinburgh Evening News and The Scotsman, BellyBasics is scientifically proven to burn fat, maintain and increase core strength, muscle tone, flexibility and coordination. Through regular BellyBasics classes you will also benefit from the vast health and fitness benefits of general belly dancing with proper technique. Expect to burn around 300 to 400kcal per class.
