Are you a woman who worked for a Leitrim factory in the recent past? If so, our women’s history project want to hear from you! This Heritage Week, we are hosting a gathering of women who worked in factories of all sizes and types across the county from the 1940's up to the 2000's to hear their shared experiences and record them for the future.
Did you work in General Plastics or Shannon Industries in Carrick, in Ballinamore or Newtowngore Textiles, in Trend Knitwear or Laird's Preserves in Drumshanbo, or in one of the many other factories in the area? Maybe you were a home worker for a factory – did you knit for Cyril Cullen or Sarah McGloin?
Come and join us for tea and cake at 7pm on Tuesday 19th August in Leitrim County Library to chat about your memories, meet other former factory workers, and add to an archive of rural women's history for Leitrim! All are very welcome, and advance booking is not necessary, but would be appreciated for catering numbers.
