Derbyshire County Council has announced the closure of eight care homes for older people, including The Grange in Eckington.
We do not believe the closure of this amazing community, the loss of their dedicated staff and the eviction of these vulnerable residents is in anyone's best interests, and we think the people of Eckington agree with us.
UNISON Derbyshire has also discovered that there is a potential buyer for the home, but Derbshire County Council will not communicate with them.
We will be holding a rally at the Civic Centre, Market Street, Eckington which will be a chance for everyone who wants to keep The Grange a part of the community to gather together and send the strongest possible message to Derbyshire County Council that this home must not close.
We will meet outside the Civic Centre for a photograph.
There may then be a march depending on the weather and stewarding arrangements, althought the Civic Centre will be available for those who do't want to march.
There will then be speeches in the Civic Centre from about 2PM.
We are very please that local Member of Parliament Louise Sandher-Jones will be joinign us.
