We're delighted to present FELT FEST at EAC on August 22 featuring artist and arts educator Audra Christie of Cherryfield, Maine. Audra is offering three workshops suitable for beginners and above. Children under 16 participate FREE with adult supervision.
Needle-Felted Critters:
9:00 – 10:30 am | Supply cost: $5 | Ages 16+ (younger with adult supervision)
Learn the basics of needle felting by creating your own charming felted critter. This beginner-friendly workshop is a fun introduction to sculpting with wool in three dimensions. No experience necessary.
Wet-Felted Soap Workshop:
10:45 am – 12:15 pm | Supply cost: $5 | Participants should bring their own bar of soap
A quick and satisfying project perfect for beginners. Learn how to wet felt wool around a bar of soap to create a colorful, natural scrubby that gently exfoliates while you wash.
Needle-Felted Landscape on Muslin:
1:15 – 4:15 pm | Supply cost: $12 | Ages 16+ (younger with adult supervision)
Explore the painterly side of needle felting by creating a wool “painting” on muslin, mounted in an embroidery hoop. Perfect for both beginners and experienced felters, this workshop will guide you through color blending, layering, and textural effects to bring your landscape to life. Participants are encouraged to bring a reference photo for inspiration.
About the Presenter:
AUDRA CHRISTIE is a working artist and arts educator living in Cherryfield, Maine. Her work explores various mediums such as felting, spinning, technical hand embroidery, knitting, and crocheting. Christie received a BFA in visual arts from UMM in 2003 and an MFA in studio art from MECA&D in 2015.
