Lone Quail / Allysen Callery

Lone Quail writes songs about lost places, stray chases, and finding your covey. While traces of doo-wop, experimental pop, psychedelia, and even post-punk wend their way through the music, her core inspiration is shaped by iconic roots artists such as Townes Van Zandt, Emmylou Harris, Neil Young, Freddy Fender, and Vic Chesnutt. She also draws heavily from the pioneers of the early alt-country scene--Cowboy Junkies, Freakwater, and Giant Sand--lending her songs a quiet edginess and subterranean power. LQ was born and raised in rural northern New Hampshire, made homes for herself all over the world, and now holes up in Santa Barbara, California.

Allysen Callery is a self-taught singer-songwriter from Bristol, Rhode Island, known for her delicate, haunting folk sound. Often compared to British artists like Sandy Denny and Nick Drake, her music has gained a following in the U.S. and abroad, especially in the UK and Europe. Her 2020 album Ghost Folk was named one of Folk Radio UK’s Top Albums of the Year and was awarded Album of the Year by Austria’s Guteshoerenistwichtig. A regular performer throughout New England and Europe, Allysen has played venues like Club Passim, The Columbus Theatre, and The Blackstone River Theatre. She’s won multiple Motif Music Awards, including Favorite Folk Act (2022, 2023) and Best Female Vocalist (Americana) in 2019.
