About the event

NSW Ninja Challenge #3: Youth Divisions
This Ninja Challenge qualifier event at Ninja Kids Erina begins at 10am local time on Sunday, 25 May 2025 and is open to 2025 NCL Season members in the Kids, Mature Kids, Pre-Teens and Teens divisions.

This event is split into the following groups based on age:

Teens (Born 2011-12)
Pre-Teens (Born 2013-14)
Mature Kids (Born 2015-16)
Kids (Born 2017-18)
NB: Registrations close at midnight on the last Sunday before this event or when the event/division sells out.

No registrations will be allowed after this date. Please also note that each competitor will require a separate profile with a unique email address to sign up. Parents/guardians should enter their most commonly used email as the Contact Email when creating accounts for additional children.

Course + Rules

Will be released closer to the event.
Schedule

Will be confirmed closer to the event, but the event will start with the youngest age groups.
Format

The run order at Ninja Challenge qualifier events is randomly generated by a spreadsheet.

Competitors will have one official attempt at the course and their official result will be recorded from their first fall, but they will be able to attempt each remaining obstacle once until all have been attempted so all competitors get an opportunity to display all their abilities in an unofficial capacity.

There is no overall time limit, but competitors will be limited to 20 seconds of rest between each obstacle, with the exception of Warped Walls, which will be limited to 30 seconds of rest between each attempt to scale the wall.

Competitors will be ranked based on furthest/fastest, with points awarded based on where a competitor ranks at the event, with bonuses for finishing the course and placing on the podium for their division* and the overall podium.

Points are used to rank competitors on our national standings, which dictate the seeding at Finals events.

See the full details of our scoring system in the Rules and Format section of our website.

*Note: Competitors in Masters will not receive bonuses for placing on the podium in their divisions, but can earn overall podium bonuses.

Reviews

If a competitor is issued a red flag by an NCL official for failing an obstacle or breaking a rule, they may request a review of the ruling by the NCL Commissioner if they believe the call was incorrect.

If a competitor is issued a yellow flag by an NCL official, it means that the official is uncertain whether a rule was broken and will check the video footage to make a final call afterwards. The video footage must show clear evidence of breaking a rule or failing an obstacle, otherwise no infraction will be issued and the run will stand.

If an NCL official does not issue a yellow flag during a competitor’s run, they cannot check the video footage afterwards to alter the competitor’s official result. Essentially, if a run has no flags, there will be no review.

The only exception to this is when an NCL official is also a competitor, in which case the NCL Commissioner may review their run as a neutral party before finalising results.

Finals Qualification

The top competitors in each division will qualify for their respective Finals events.

For Adults & Teens, this will be held at Geelong Ninjas on October 4 & 5.

For Youth competitors, this will be held at Geelong Ninjas on October 1 & 2.

With the exception of the Adults Division, all other divisions will not be split by sex in terms of Finals qualification.

The number of Finals spots available in each division will range from 1 to 5 based on the number of competitors in that division at this qualifier.

Successful qualifiers will be notified by the NCL via email – this is the only source of official confirmation, there may be reviews that take place that could change placings announced by in-person event staff.

Tickets

Competitors are allowed a discounted ticket at their first event each season, which is labelled Debut.

Debut tickets cost $25.

All other qualifier tickets cost $50.

The combined adult divisions (Born 2010+) are capped at 50 competitors across all divisions.

Each youth division (born 2011-18) is capped at 20 competitors for each division.

Results

The full official results will be published in the Latest News section of our website the week of the event.

Please arrive on time to assist with the smooth running of the event and to ensure that you will get a run.
