Pigments from Petals: Steam, Set, Print!
with Artisan, Tami Fuller
1-day workshop
September 27th from 1:00pm-4:00pm
Eco Printing is the use of natural materials to leave two dimensional impressions of organic flora on media. Through the use of pressure and heat we can preserve and transfer the veining of leaves, soothing colors of petals and stems that create color-rich collages locking the beauty of the world around us into cloth or paper. In this workshop students will learn the basics of the art
form and learn how to natural pigment and steam to eco-print a 21x21 project made from habotai silk. Color options will vary depending on seasonal blooms and organics available at time of class.
This class has a passive processing time of 45 minutes which will allow students time to explore the Roycroft Campus grounds and South Grove. Feel free to bring a picnic lunch, and please bring an apron/smock or wear clothes suitable for dye work. Latex gloves will be provided! If you have any plant allergies, please be aware that we are handling foraged and fresh plants; we ask that you inquire before reserving your ticket to ensure safety and comfort for all participants.
