Activity: Prairie Seed Harvest.
Date: October 18, 2025
Time: 12-2 PM
Location: Kuehn Conservation Area
Event Details:
You’ll team up with Dallas County Conservation staff and fellow volunteers to collect seeds from native prairie plants ready for harvest. These seeds will be used to restore and enhance prairie areas across our parks and wildlife habitats.
Your efforts directly support prairie restoration throughout Dallas County, improving soil health, water quality, and habitat for wildlife. Along the way, you’ll sharpen your plant ID skills, learn more about the connection between prairie and clean water, and take part in meaningful conservation work that addresses one of Iowa’s biggest environmental challenges.
Bringing back prairie helps the land take care of itself—and us. Come be part of the effort to make a real difference for our local community, our waterways, and the generations to come.
Lunch Provided:
Enjoy grilled hot dogs and brats, along with chips and water—on us!
