Mother's Day isn't cheerful for everyone – and honestly, sometimes it just plain sucks. While the world drowns in brunches and flower bouquets, we'll be creating a different kind of space at Killer Queen in downtown Durham (117 E Main St B, Durham, NC 27701)
Whether your mom died, your relationship is complicated, you're struggling with infertility or being a mom, you never got the motherhood or mothering experience you wanted, or Mother's Day brings up any other types of grief – this Sad Hour is your permission to feel what you're actually feeling.
What's a Sad Hour? A Sad Hour is Grieve Leave's griefy take on a Happy Hour. We gather at local spots to connect over drinks and honest conversation about what we're actually feeling. No pressure to share, no need to pretend, just a space where your grief gets to exist without anyone trying to fix it. We'll have wine and snacks, plus Killer Queen's delicious charcuterie boards available for purchase.
Hosted by Grieve Leave's founder, Rebecca Feinglos, this is about being exactly where you are in your grief – whatever that looks like. Share your story, listen to others who get it, or just sit quietly with a drink among people who won't ask why you aren't celebrating.
No registration fee, no expectations – just a judgment-free zone to be. Because grief doesn't take a holiday, even when the calendar says it should. Come as you are. We'll be waiting.
