Island Songwriting Sessions is about making a space where creatives can come together to network, hone their craft, write songs. We are hoping to develop a collective that will support Songwriters, Singers, Musicians, Poets & Writers.
Session 3 is on Sat 26th July 2025.
We are hoping to have a max of 16 folk take part in each session. Each month there will be a theme that the group is going to write about, the May theme will be Summer. We have 4 separate spaces in our studio; to encourage connection & skill sharing we will draw groups at random to work together on at least one song.
The day will look like this:
Arrive for 10.30 am, grab a coffee/tea and introductions. Chat over the process and some ideas/prompts for the song to get you started.
Break for lunch at 13.30pm – The Green Room is on site, Brew Hew is a short walk and there is great Deli’s in Sliverstream, Newell Stores & Springisland.
After Lunch 14.30pm we will have a Circle Session were the groups perform what they have written for each other. We will chat over the approach that each group took to writing their song & any inspiration. We will make a demo recording of the Songs & maybe video for sharing on social media if folk are happy to do that – if not that is also grand.
Next steps could be develop and finish songs and then release them in some sort of format i.e. a cd or streaming platforms. We would like to hold a Bluebird Café style session once a quarter for the songs to be performed for the community again if this suits participants there is no pressure to do this. These Live sessions are open to performing the songs written during the Song Sessions and other songs/covers – hopefully they will be a bit of craic.
