Join us for a workshop with Amina Moti about culture and its impact on the lives of people in the third sector and caring roles, and to discuss how to manage these facets of life.

If you’re a frontline worker, a carer, or a community leader, you know the weight of responsibility. But what about the cultural expectations that come with it? The pressure to always give, never say no, and uphold traditions even when you’re exhausted.
My journey spans Gujarat to East Africa, to England and to Scotland. Across continents, I’ve seen how cultural norms shape lives and leadership. They inspire but they also confine. They tell us to be strong, selfless, and silent.
I’ve worked in private, public, and third sectors, volunteered by choice - and for family without choice. These experiences blessed me with insight, yet even with reflection, I endured cultural pressure.
This workshop is for YOU: the carers, community leaders, and frontline workers who carry not just professional stress but cultural weight too. Together, we will:
If you’ve ever felt torn between your role and your cultural expectations, this space is for you.

This session is open to all, especially those working in the third sector and any care professions - people who give so much of themselves to others and sometimes forget to pause and care for their own wellbeing.
Lunch and refreshments will be served from 12 noon, providing a chance to connect and network before the session begins.
The ECHO (Empowering Communities, Helping Others) Project is proudly funded by NHS Tayside Charitable Foundation.
