$74.95 Registration fee Includes: An official certificate, a 2 year subscription to our online Animal Emergency Resource Center, your choice of the 88 page full color class manual either as an Ebook (View Only/Cannot be Printed) or a printed copy (additional $24.95), businesses, organizations and groups may request a professional, frame-able certificate and window decal, to hang in their place of business to promote that their staff/members are certified.
We strongly encourage all participants to bring their own stuffed animal to practice skills on during the class (optional).
Emergency First Aid for Wilderness Settings: Learn essential first aid techniques to stabilize and manage a dog’s condition in remote areas where emergency veterinary care may not be readily accessible. The course covers how to address common injuries, such as wounds, fractures, and dehydration, with a focus on maintaining a dog’s safety until professional help is available.
Handling Injuries in Outdoor Environments: Acquire the skills to assess and treat injuries that frequently occur during outdoor activities, including cuts, sprains, insect bites, and hypothermia. This module provides practical strategies for managing these situations in challenging environments like trails, campsites, and waterways.
Preparing Dogs for Strenuous Activities: Understand how to condition dogs for outdoor adventures to reduce the risk of injury. The course offers guidance on training, exercise routines, and diet adjustments to prepare a dog for demanding activities such as hiking, hunting, and water sports.
Preventing and Managing Heat-Related Illnesses: Learn to recognize the early signs of heat exhaustion and heatstroke in dogs and take the necessary steps to cool them down safely. This segment emphasizes prevention techniques, such as choosing the right gear, hydration practices, and planning activity times to avoid the hottest parts of the day.
Navigating Remote Rescue Scenarios: Gain confidence in handling emergency situations where evacuation may be necessary. The course covers techniques for safely transporting injured dogs, building makeshift splints, and using outdoor materials to aid in emergency care while waiting for help.
Animal Behavior and Stress Management in Emergencies: Discover how stress, fear, or pain can impact a dog’s behavior during an emergency. Learn effective methods to calm and safely restrain a dog while administering first aid, ensuring the safety of both the dog and the handler.
