🎉 SPECIAL OPENING WEEKEND – MAY 3-4 🎉
Join us to inaugurate our beautiful new meditation centre at 24 Castle Street in the heart of Dumfries.
This truly auspicious event will begin with Gen-la Kelsang Dekyong, the General Spiritual Director of the New Kadampa Tradition, cutting the ribbon to officially open the centre, followed by a short talk and a blessing ceremony in the stunning new meditation hall. During the ceremony we will recite the Wishfulfilling Jewel Prayers and make tsog offerings.*
In the afternoon Gen-la Dekyong has very kindly agreed to give teachings on The Buddhist Way of Life and the profound practice of refuge. When we go for refuge to the Three Jewels, Buddha, Dharma and Sangha, we enter into the Buddhist family and can make swift progress on the Buddhist spiritual path.
We need to go for refuge to Dharma, our inner experience of Buddha’s teachings, because this is what directly protects us from our delusions which are the real source of all our suffering and leads us along the spiritual path. We need to go for refuge to the Buddhas, the fully enlightened beings, because they teach us Dharma and inspire us to practice it through the transforming power of their blessings. We need to go for refuge to the Sangha, the community of pure spiritual practitioners, because we need their support, advice and encouragement.
This is an uncommon opportunity to receive encouragement directly from Gen-la Dekyong that will inspire and strengthen our experience of refuge.
The weekend will conclude on Sunday morning with a short retreat guided by the Resident Teacher of Vajrasattva Kadampa Meditation Centre, Gen Kelsang Tubchen. Through engaging in retreat on the teachings we can take these precious teachings to heart and through meditating we can turn our mind into a deep inner experience of refuge.
