This summer, Downtown Duluth comes alive with hands-on learning!
From May 28 to July 30, we’re partnering with top Atlanta-area museums and science centers to bring exciting, educational STEM experiences to Parsons Alley.
Designed especially for kids ages 5–11 , each Wednesday features a new activity that sparks curiosity and encourages discovery through science, technology, engineering, and math.
Sessions at 10:30am and 11:30am.
Registration is required.
June 11, 2025 - Code Crackers with MIMMS Museum of Technology & Art
Step into the secretive world of codes and ciphers! Students will learn how encryption has been used throughout history — from ancient Caesar ciphers to modern digital codes — and get hands-on experience creating and cracking secret messages using symbols, logic, and basic algorithms. This workshop is presented in partnership with MIMMS, a museum dedicated to exploring the history of computing, digital technology, and media arts. Formerly known as the Computer Museum, MIMMS brings a unique perspective on how technology shapes communication and inspires the next generation of tech-savvy thinkers.
Suggested for ages 5-11.
Parents must accompany children during this activity.
Cost is $5/child
With registration, each participant will receive a gift certificate redeemable at Downtown Duluth businesses. Value $5.
