“The Lostech Caves”

Butte Hold, Periphery Space

5 March 3027

"This SLDF cache is not what we expected, Mercenaries. This is an extensive cave system instead of just a simple store of weapons and ‘Mechs. The doors automatically closed behind us but we fully expect Redjack Ryan and his pirates to figure out a way through and get down here.

We need to finish exploring this cave system and find what we came for before they find us. Part of the problem we are having is the power systems are down in this part of the caves, leaving doors closed to us. We don’t dare try explosives in the caves for fear of burying ourselves.

The good news is Gary, the lead Astech, has pinpointed the problem. He’s located a power junction where the breakers fried long ago. The even better news is spare breakers were left behind and we just need to replace them. The bad news is we are going to need some ‘Mechs with hand actuators to perform the work. These breakers are large and we didn’t bring any heavy equipment, nor can we find any in the caves.

The company is kind of at a dead end here. We need the power systems back up to open a door leading to the next section of the cave system so we can find the SLDF cache we are down here to get. We also can’t allow ourselves to get trapped between the hammer and anvil.

Also, Gary is growing increasingly neurotic. That APC we lost getting in here had some of his Astechs in there. He watched as the APC cargo space containing the Astech was critically hit and the crew burned alive. We’re going to need to get him some help once/if we get out of this.
