The Caffe Grande Slam ft. Martin Kennedy Yates

Hello and welcome to another Caffe Grande Slam! There's room again for 12 more poets, using slots of 3 minutes, in order to gain your scores out of 10 points.

We'll have our winner from last month in the showcase slot. There will be Van Gough. There will be food and drink available to purchase and, there will be our headliner for the month who is:

Martin Kennedy Yates has lived in Dudley for most of his life, and has written poetry for almost as long as he can remember, but has given it more time and taken it more seriously since completing an MA in Creative Writing at Birmingham City University in 2021.

In the past few years he has had poems published in literary journals including Stand magazine, The Rialto, Magma, Poetry Wales, and many more. In 2024 he was the winner of The Broken Spine Chapbook Competition, which led to his debut poetry book "This Wilderness & Other Concerns" being published earlier this month.
