Join us on the second Thursday of October, November, December, January, and February for Homeschool Days! Each date features drop-in activities focused on a different theme. No advance registration needed.
October 9: This Homeschool Day is at the Mathias Ham Historic Site. Explore history through hands-on activities, play games, do chores, and learn about lead mining. Experience how people lived, worked, and played throughout Dubuque’s history!
November 13: Learn about how we can use fossils to paint the ecological landscapes of the past. Long before the Mississippi divided the country, the Western Interior Seaway ruled over the landscape. Discover how scientists use fish and shark fossils found in unlikely places to paint a picture of what this ancient sea once looked like.
December 11: Discover Outer Space in our Maker Space!
January 8: Discover the world of scuba diving- the careers, history, and science of how humans have found their way to exploring new depths and spending their lives below the surface.
February 12: Get ready to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Learn about some popular ways of celebrating Independence Day throughout history and be a part of our upcoming exhibit by telling us what the 4th of July means to you.
