Paper flower making workshop for the Day of the Dead.

One of the most important elements in a Day of the Dead Altar is the cempasuchil flowers, also known as the Aztec Marigold. Their very distinctive scent is meant to guide the souls of our loved ones back to the ofrenda (the altar) reuniting them to the living realm for one night only. Altars may have a combination of fresh and paper flowers and families come together to make, gather and arrange the flowers in the altar. It is one of my favourite things to do in Ireland.

This Paper Flower Making Workshop was designed as a parent and child activity, where little hands can learn to make the flowers and use them in creative ways. This once off workshop is part of our Day of the Dead at Picado Series, a micro festival celebrating this colourful Mexican holiday.

Facilitated by the gorgeous Eli Duarte, from Caminando Se Resuelve, a project where migrants meet and reconnect with their identity through reflective arts & crafts, the workshop will allow parents and kids to make paper flowers together.

We'll have some snacks and a complimentary soft drink. - This is a 2 hour workshop. PRICE COVERS one Parent and one child.
