Join us for a relaxed Sunday steam journey aboard the majestic Locomotive No. 1037 as DownsSteam presents the Pint and Plate Express. Travel from Drayton to the charming town of Clifton, where you’ll enjoy two hours to explore, dine, and soak up the local hospitality.
New for 2025 – Guests now have a choice of lunch options: book a traditional pub meal, enjoy a convenient track pack lunch served on arrival, or simply choose a train ride only and explore Clifton at your own pace. With local pubs, a museum, and a movie theatre all within walking distance, Clifton offers something for everyone.
Experience heritage rail travel in comfort, engage with our passionate volunteer crew, and enjoy the scenic beauty of the Darling Downs. Seats are limited – book early to secure your spot!
Itinerary
Arrival at DownsSteam: 9:00 AM – 09:30 AM
Departure from Drayton: 10:00 AM
Arrival in Clifton: 12:00 PM
Free Time & Lunch in Clifton: 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Return Departure from Clifton: 2:30 PM
Arrival Back at Drayton: 4:30 PM
While the train is stationary, light refreshments and drinks will be available for purchase in our dining car.
Meal Options (Choose at Booking)
1. Train Ride Only
Enjoy two hours of free time in Clifton to explore the local pubs, museum, or historic theatre at your leisure. (Lunch not included.)
2. Track Pack Lunch – $20 per person
A delicious on-the-go meal served on arrival in Clifton, including:
Meat & salad wrap
Small fruit salad
Fruit juice popper
3. Pub Lunch - $30 per person
Enjoy a classic pub meal (drinks sold separately) with an alternate drop of:
Chicken schnitzel
Irish stew
Gluten Free options are available at each pub, please ensure you annotate gluten free requirements when booking your ticket.

Information
Please arrive between 9:00 AM – 9:30 AM to enjoy the museum before departure.
Refreshments: Light refreshments and snacks can be purchased at the station shop.
Guests are strongly encourage to wear comfortable footwear, as you will be required to walk up to 200 metres between the station and the pubs at Clifton.
When disembarking at Clifton, please ensure all personal belongings and equipment is taken with you, as the train will be operating another service between Clifton and Hendon.
Seating: Infants under 2 years old who do not occupy a seat travel free. If you wish to reserve a seat for an infant, please book a child fare. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Note: Due to the heritage nature of our coaches, some seats may not have windows (as indicated on seat maps and tickets). We encourage guests to select their own seats when booking. While we strive to honour seating requests, we may need to reassign seats for operational, safety, or security reasons.
Musuem and theatre tickets sold at venue. Note venues may not be open due to it being Sunday.
