Enjoy a trip down memory lane at our beautiful Drayton Station for a nostalgic experience reminiscent of a bygone era. DownsSteam is a community organisation, run by volunteers, dedicated to the establishment of a tourist heritage railway for the Darling Downs. DownsSteam was formed to preserve and restore the last remaining steam locomotive built at the historic Toowoomba Foundry Company, C16-106 Southern Cross Works No 28 circa 1914. Along with our two steam locomotives C16-106, and BB18¼ 1037, we have also restored the former Commissioner’s Inspection Railmotor. Not only are you able to wander through our historic station and go on a precinct tour (including our exceptional Dreamtime Carriage), we also run rail trips to various towns on the Downs. Check our website for trip schedules, pricing and to purchase tickets. Every 3rd Saturday of the month, we hold an open day with a sausage sizzle, live music and often free heritage bus rides.
