The Surrender House

The Dover Hotel, built between 1853 and 1855, has seen some incredible moments in history. Once a bustling hub during the height of riverboat travel, this hotel was also the site of a crucial surrender during the American Civil War. Join our Park staff as they share the fascinating stories of the Dover Hotel and the significant events it witnessed throughout its time as a hotel, a hospital, and a gathering place for important meetings.
