Let’s Help and Silverbackks are joining forces this summer to fight hunger in our community with Feeding Topeka, a golf tournament fundraiser! Join us on Saturday, June 14, at Western Hills Golf Course for a day of fun, friendly competition, and giving back. The tournament kicks off with a 9:00 AM shotgun start and will be played in a 4-person scramble format.
Your entry includes everything you need for a great day on the course:
• Golf and cart rental
• Beverages, snacks, and lunch
• Gift bag
• Contests for longest drive, closest to the pin, and longest putt
Entry Fees:
• $85 per individual or $340 per team
• Mulligans: $10 each or 3 for $20
• $100 per individual (includes 3 mulligans!)
This event is about more than just golf—it’s about ensuring that no one in Topeka goes hungry.
About the Organizations
Silverbackks, Inc. is a grassroots volunteer organization founded in 2011 by Jude Quinn. After moving to Topeka, Jude wanted to give back but found that many volunteer opportunities required dues or rigid time commitments. Determined to create a more accessible way to serve, he started Silverbackks by handing out cold bottles of water on a hot summer day. From that simple act, SilverSunday was born.
What started as a small effort quickly grew into a larger mission. Over the years, Silverbackks expanded from distributing water to providing coffee, cookies, and sack lunches—eventually evolving into a program that serves hot meals every Sunday to anyone in need. Silverbackks has also developed additional programs focused on supporting individuals and families facing hardship, all while maintaining a flexible and compassionate volunteer model.
Let’s Help has been combating food insecurity in Topeka since 1969. Founded by Father Quinlan and Patty Coughlin, the organization started with Patty distributing bakery goods and winter clothing from her car. As the community’s needs grew, so did Let’s Help’s commitment to feeding those in need.
Under the leadership of Marge Roberts in 1977, Let’s Help launched formal food distribution programs, introducing community meals, emergency food boxes, and partnerships with local donors. Today, Let’s Help continues this mission by serving hot lunches, distributing food boxes, and adapting to meet the growing needs of the community.
Both organizations are deeply committed to serving Topeka’s most vulnerable populations with dignity and compassion. By coming together for Feeding Topeka, Silverbackks and Let’s Help are uniting their efforts to combat food insecurity and make an even greater impact.
Every dollar raised from this tournament will support their shared mission of providing hot meals and essential resources to individuals and families in need.
