Dan and Toby Silver will be directing one of the most loved Shakespeare plays this autumn, Macbeth.
Show Launch and Workshop Auditions: 14 and 16 July, 7.30pm
At the Green Room Theatre, RH4 1SG
Show Dates: 28 October - 1 November 2025
Our workshops will involve group exercises as well as character/scene study. This allows us to see how actors interact, adapt, and respond within a dynamic, collaborative-focused setting. We will show the concept of the set and music design for you to engage with.
We will explore key scenes, delve into character motivations, and experiment with movement and vocal expression. This isn't about delivering a polished performance for judgment but about exploring possibilities and revealing your range through active engagement. Scripts will be provided however, feel free to bring your own.
Rehearsals will be Tuesdays and Thursday from 7:30pm starting from W/C 28th July
All roles except Lady Macbeth are open to actors of any gender and any age, allowing for incredibly fresh and insightful interpretations.
Macbeth: A once-valiant leader, now consumed by ambition and paranoia. This role demands immense psychological depth, vocal power, and a commanding physical presence, portraying a profound descent into madness.
Lady Macbeth: The formidable catalyst for Macbeth's ambition, whose initial strength gives way to torment and breakdown. This role requires fierce determination, manipulative intelligence, and the ability to portray profound psychological unravelling. This is the only role we are explicitly seeking a female-identifying actor for, given the specific historical and theme-related context of her character's journey.
The Witches (3 roles): Mysterious, prophetic figures who are as much a part of the psychological landscape as external forces. We are seeking actors of any gender and any age with the ability to create an unsettling, otherworldly presence. The witches will also play different ensemble characters such as the servants ,noblemen and lords.
Banquo: Loyal, honourable, wise, cautious, and morally upright. They are a steadfast friend to Macbeth. They serve as a critical foil to Macbeth, representing a path of virtue that Macbeth rejects.
Macduff: Fiercely loyal to Scotland, deeply honourable, principled, and ultimately vengeful. They are the moral compass of the play, driven by a profound sense of justice and patriotism. Their intense grief, their determination to confront Macbeth, showcasing immense emotional depth and unwavering courage.
Malcolm: Initially cautious, perhaps a bit naive or fearful, but grows into a wise, strategic, and just leader. They represent hope and the restoration of order. Their journey involves testing loyalty and learning to trust, demonstrating a quiet strength and ultimate resolve.
Duncan: Benevolent. They are a symbol of legitimate and virtuous kingship, making their murder a profound violation of the natural order. Their warmth contrasts sharply with Macbeth's growing coldness.
Ross: A pragmatic and adaptable Scottish nobleman. Often the bearer of grim news, they are observant and capable of navigating treacherous political waters. They shift allegiances as necessary for survival and the good of Scotland, representing the turbulent times.
Porter: Comedic, poetic and philosophical. They provide moments of dark humour and ironic commentary, serving as a brief return to mundane reality amidst the play's escalating horrors. They observe humanity's follies from the threshold of Macbeth's castle.
