Benefit Trail Ride
Care to Learn - Seymour
Colton Harris, a member of the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse Breed Association (MFTHBA) and an active participant in the Douglas County Fox Trotting Horse Breed Association (DCFTHBA), is sponsoring a benefit trail ride for the Seymour chapter of Care to Learn. This event marries the love of trail riding with the supporting of children's needs and aims to raise essential funds to support the critical work of Care to Learn-Seymour.
Care to Learn - Seymour was established in 2017 as the 33rd chapter of the Care to Learn organization. Since its inception, the chapter has been dedicated to meeting the immediate needs of students in the Seymour R-II School District. The organization's mission centers on addressing three primary areas: health, hunger, and hygiene. By ensuring that these basic needs are met, Care to Learn aims to remove barriers to student success and promote a healthy learning environment. The chapter runs a robust weekend backpack program, where students in need receive backpacks filled with shelf-stable essentials every Friday. These backpacks include breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack items, ensuring that children have access to nutritious food over the weekend when school meals are not available.
The fundraising trail ride will be held on October 18th at the North Fork River Ranch in West Plains. The ride will commence at 10:00 am, led by the trail boss, Jim Harris. This event is open to all types of horses and riders.
The funds raised from this event will directly support the initiatives of Care to Learn - Seymour, helping to ensure that students in the Seymour R-II School District have the resources they need to succeed.
For those who cannot attend the trail ride but still wish to support fundraising efforts, donations are warmly welcomed. Contributions can be sent to Colton Harris at 1614 Goss Cave Road, Seymour, MO 65746. Donors are kindly requested to make checks payable to "Care to Learn-Seymour."
