For the month of October, the Block House Gallery in Pullman is home to a temporary exhibit featuring the works of Alfonso Iannelli (1888-1965), the influential Chicago-based Italian-American sculptor, illustrator, and industrial designer whose work helped shape the Prairie School, Art Deco, and Art Moderne movements worldwide.
Opening Saturday, October 11th (the first day of the annual Historic Pullman House Tour) with a public reception from 5PM to 8PM that evening, Iannelli ’33 will prominently feature artwork that Alfonso Iannelli created for the 1933 Century of Progress International Exhibition, as well as art and artifacts from several other milestones in the artist’s career - from the famed sculptural “sprites” that Iannelli co-created with Richard Bock for Frank Lloyd Wright’s Midway Gardens in 1914 complex to household appliances he designed for Chicago-based Sunbeam Products in 1939.
Iannelli '33 is curated by Iannelli collector Andreas Morgen in collaboration with the Block House Gallery. The opening reception on October 11th is free to the public, and will include complimentary refreshments for attendees. Additional public open hours will take place on the following dates:
