The Pullman Companion Animal Blessing (PCAB) began as a community event in honor of St. Francis' Feast Day. The focus was on the blessing ceremony but also included several animal rescue organizations.
It has since grown to much more than that!!
We want to bring an awareness of compassion for all animals, therefore we serve only vegan food.
We invite guest speakers, one of which is a Ranger from the Pullman Historic National Park.
For enjoyment, two local musicians/singers, a Pullman school choir and the Pullman Community Choir, entertain us with animal related songs.
Thru donations from local businesses and individuals, PCAB raises funds with Silent Auctions and Raffles of these items, that benefit the two local churches that administer the blessings and the participating animal rescue organizations.
We also encourage and invite those who may not have companion animals.
With all these components, it's almost like an "animal fair", also offering the opportunity to be exposed to and handle animals from rescue groups, community fellowship and social interaction for our companion animals.
MISSION STATEMENT
The Pullman Companion Animal Blessing highlights the importance of celebrating all creation, with respect for companion animals, wildlife and humanity, bringing us to a deeper understanding of living together peaceably on this beautiful irreplaceable planet.
This is accomplished by incorporating a variety of components making it enjoyable, educational and spiritual for attendees, whether they are of the 2-legged or 4-legged variety.
