Why It Matters?
Thalassemia is a genetic blood disorder affecting thousands of families in Bangladesh most don’t know they could prevent it! 12–15 million Bangladeshis are estimated to be thalassemia carriers. Source: Bangladesh Thalassemia Foundation, The Daily Star (2023).
Just as the energy of the July Revolution led to national change, now is your time to be a changemaker, bringing together compassion, creativity, and the power of technology with BloodBridge at the forefront.

At the heart of it all is BloodBridge, our tech-powered hub making blood donation easier, connecting donors and patients, and sharing knowledge to prevent future generations from suffering.
🚩 Signature Events & Contests — Open to All Students!
1. 🎨 Poster Presentation: Awareness in Art
Date: 13 August
Theme: Bridge the Gap: Blood Donation, and awareness for a Thalassemia-Free Tomorrow
Design a handmade poster—solo or with up to 2 friends—that brings to life the emotional, medical, and social impact of thalassemia.
Focus on the life-saving role of blood donation, the power of early genetic screening (especially for university students), and how technology can connect communities and support patients.
Showcase both the promise of treatments and the need for ongoing donor support, inclusion, and social awareness.
Each team presents for 5–7 minutes, with a 100-word concept note explaining your idea.
Goal: Educate, inspire, and drive action using creativity and knowledge.
2. 💡 Innovation Pitch: Tech for a Healthier Tomorrow
Date: 14 August
Theme: Bridge the Gap: HealthTech, and Innovation for a Thalassemia-Free Tomorrow
Present a tech-powered idea (alone or as a team of 3 max) that harnesses innovation to prevent thalassemia, support affected families, and make blood donation easier and more reliable.
Choose a focus:
Apps for campus/rural screening
Awareness campaigns using social media
Smart platforms for verified blood donor matching (like BloodBridge!)
Bangla chatbots for education and support
Data dashboards for tracking needs
10-slide max, 7-minute pitch, plus concept note.
Objective: Demonstrate how healthtech and innovation can transform thalassemia screening, support, and blood donation in Bangladesh.
3. 🎬 Ad-Making Contest: 2 Minutes to Move a Nation
Runs before and during event week
Theme: Bridge the Gap: Blood Donation, HealthTech, and Innovation for a Thalassemia-Free Tomorrow
Create a short, powerful video ad—solo or team of 3 max—that:
Explains what thalassemia is?
Shows why regular blood donation is vital
Highlights BloodBridge’s mission and how healthtech bridges donors and patients. (visit our website-bloodbridge.org for more information)
Inspires others by connecting the spirit of the July Revolution with today’s creative, youth-led action
Entertain, educate, and urge viewers to donate, get screened, and be part of a thalassemia-free tomorrow.
2 minutes max. 60% based on public votes, 40% on judges’ scores (creativity, clarity, quality, call to action).

Dates: 11–12 August
Join a vital campaign: donate blood, receive free blood grouping and thalassemia carrier screening, and directly impact the lives of children and families battling thalassemia.
