Back 2 School Block Party - Sneaker Edition

Join us for the Back-to-School Block Party: Sneaker Edition, an outdoor community celebration that blends style, sneakers, and impact—just in time for the new school year.

This family-friendly event brings together Detroit’s creative community, local youth, and cultural tastemakers for a high-energy experience centered around fun, fashion, and giving back.

• Free Haircuts for Kids (12–2 PM)
• Backpack Giveaway (500+ bags w/ supplies)
• Live DJs + Music
• Sneaker & Style Activations
• Basketball 3-Point Contest & 1-on-1 Tournament
• Vendor Booths + Food Trucks
• Giveaways & More!

We're giving away 500 backpacks filled with school supplies to help students in Detroit start the school year confident and prepared.

Backpacks will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, beginning at 12:00 PM. Each backpack includes essential items like notebooks, folders, pencils, pens, and more — all packed with care by volunteers and community partners.

You can support in three ways:

1. Donate School Supplies at our official drop-off locations:

• Social Status Detroit – 9101 Jefferson Ave, Detroit, MI 48214
• August Ave - 14824 Kerchevel, Detroit, MI 48215

1. Make a Donation Online with our Donation Ticket on Eventbrite — 100% of proceeds go toward backpacks and supplies.
2. Spread the Word and help us reach our goal by sharing the event and encouraging others to donate.

This giveaway is open to school-aged children and parents/guardians must be present to receive a bag.
