The Detroit Public Library Author Series is pleased to welcome New York Times bestselling author and entrepreneur Shaka Senghor, a native Detroiter who has captivated and transformed global audiences with his extraordinary journey from incarceration to influence. Shaka will be joined by Detroit-based entrepeneur Sebastian Earl Jackson for a heartfelt discussion about Shaka's latest book: How to Be Free : A Proven Guide to Escaping Life's Hidden Prisons (2025, Simon & Schuster).
In How to Be Free, Shaka shows readers how to embrace joy, reclaim their narratives, and achieve their wildest dreams in business and beyond through proven meditation, mindfulness, and creative exercises. Through raw and powerful storytelling, Shaka reveals how we all grapple with invisible chains that hold us back.
This is NOT a ticketed event. Seats will be available on a first-come, first-term basis. Make sure to register on Eventbrite, though, in order to receive important updates about Shaka's visit. Copies of Shaka's book will be available for purchase from Detroit's own Pages Bookshop!
