The Lived Resistance: A Phenomenological Portrait of Protest in Contemporary Ireland
Launch Event: 10th October, 7pm
Lifford Old Courthouse, Lifford, Co. Donegal
Exhibition Dates: 10th – 30th October
Opening Hours: Weekdays, 10am – 3.30pm
Step into an immersive exploration of protest and resistance in Ireland today.
Through photography—alongside film and sound—this exhibition captures the emotional, psychological, and spatial realities of individuals and communities engaged in acts of resistance.
Rather than observing from a distance, these portraits invite you into the lived experience of resistance: from the conviction, grief, and hope carried within, to the shared spaces of marches, vigils, homes, and rituals.
Alongside faces, you will encounter the traces of resilience in everyday objects and symbols—badges, banners, worn shoes, and the quiet echo of a protest song sung at a kitchen table.
Rooted in Ireland’s long history of resistance, this work reflects on what it means to resist today, across struggles for housing, environment, and bodily autonomy.
Come and witness stories of defiance, resilience, and solidarity—told not just through images, but through the lived textures of protest itself.
