Nancy Viera is a Mexican American author from Denver, Colorado. She is the author of a memoir, The Grief and The Happiness, and has written four poetry collections, Silhouette, Chicago and You, Serendipity and the newest one, Reclamation. She is the host of City Silhouettes, a local artist showcase and belongs to the board of the Colorado Poets Center. She has been an Ofrendas Workshop Facilitator with the Latino Cultural Arts Center and taught workshops with Regis University and Colorado College. Her work has been showcased at the Denver Art Museum.
Sarah Matusek is a journalist based in Denver for The Christian Science Monitor, an international news outlet founded by a woman in 1908. From her Mountain West bureau, Sarah reports on a range of issues — like Western water wars, domestic military bases, and Venezuelan asylum seekers’ pursuit of the American dream. Her work has won awards, including from the Society for Features Journalism. Sarah has also enjoyed several fellowships, including one with Fellowships at Auschwitz for the Study of Professional Ethics. Later this year, she’ll start a law degree at the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law.
Terri Lewis fell in love with medieval history in college. Not the dates or wars, but the mysterious daily lives of the people. Building on this love, she read and traveled widely, marveling at Europe’s preserved towns and castles. Finally, two sentences in a book bought at Windsor Castle led her to write Behold the Bird in Flight. Terri’s writing has been honed through workshops with Jill McCorkle, Laura van den Berg, and Rebecca Makkai, and she has published in literary magazines, Chicago Quarterly Review, Denver Quarterly among others. In 2025, she won the Miami University Press Novella Award. She lives with her husband and two lively dogs in Denver, Colorado.
Originally from Georgia, Brian Byrdsong has been in Colorado since 2010. He is a lover of weird and twisted stories in any format. Brian is the author of The Queerest Touch, a collection of short stories. He is also the creator of two podcasts, “A Byrd Mind”, and “The House of Infinite Possibility”
