Premiere Night – Celebrating our New Weckbaugh Case & Diné Dress Installations

An Evening of Celebration at the Museum

Join us for an elegant evening as we recognize two brand-new installations. Museum staff from the Anthropology Department, Avenir Conservation Center and the Exhibits team will be on hand throughout the evening to engage with guests as they explore:

• A collection of Diné and Zuni silver squash blossom necklaces, conserved by museum staff following the closure of the North American Indian Cultures Hall. This exhibit highlights the intricate processes behind safeguarding these items for future generations while honoring their deep cultural significance.

• A newly rejoined Diné biil’éé (two-panel dress), sewn back together in June 2024 by Diné weaver Lynda Teller Pete and Avenir conservator Kathleen Martin. This marks the first time a Diné two-panel dress in a museum collection has been reunited. The installation details the rejoining process and the ongoing care for this historic garment. Celebrate these powerful stories of preservation and collaboration. A cash bar and light refreshments will be available.
