THREE DAYS OF FREE EVENTS celebrating poetry, story, and film. Whether you're a writer, reader, filmmaker, or just curious, there’s something here for you.
THURSDAY, JUNE 26 kicks off with WORD ON FIRE, our open mic and social at the Discovery Centre in Ladner. Writers of all kinds sharing 5-minute pieces in a warm, welcoming space.
FRIDAY, JUNE 27 is our SLAM COMPETITION, hosted by local spoken word poet Linden Chow. Come to just watch or to compete. Three cash prizes. One wild night of words. Competitors receive gifts and books from the Abandoned Library of Irene P.
SATURDAY, JUNE 28 is a full creative takeover at the North Delta Centre for the Arts:
11 free workshops all day long (songwriting to scriptwriting to exploring creativity)
Afternoon live performances including Jude Neale and Nicholas Jennings’ collaborative poetry + painting project, and two performance sets from Kagan Goh—solo storytelling, spoken word, and comedy
At 7PM, we close with the COMPOSED SHORT FILM FESTIVAL. All films are under 10 minutes, blending literary and poetic storytelling. Audience members get to vote for the Audience Choice Award live.
