SOIL: A Master Class @O with Nancy Daniels

Join Penn State Extension Master Gardener Nancy Daniels for this Master Class Healthy Soil: A Gardener’s Canvas surrounded by the Plants & Pollinators Art Show. Healthy soil is the key to a thriving garden, whether you’re growing vegetables or flowers. In this class, you’ll explore soil composition, learn how to conduct and interpret soil tests, and discover amendments that can enhance your garden’s success.

What is healthy soil? How do you know if you have it? Explore your soil. Bring to the workshop two cups of dry, debris-free soil from an existing garden or from an area you want to landscape. Learn easy at- home tests to identify soil’s texture, structure, and pH.

Receive a Soil Fertility Test Kit from Penn State’s Agricultural Analytical Services Lab and information on what the test results will tell you. Learn the ten commandments, whoops, suggestions about creating and keeping soil healthy, growing beautiful plants, and nutritious and luscious vegetables, herbs, and fruit.
