SHERPA Institute has had an initiative active, then on hold for over two years, aimed at improving Decatur communities. We are now restarting, after unexpected delays, with one neighborhood as a PILOT, then expanding throughout the city.
We had postponed our January 2024 Chilean colleague and Brazilian PhD Intern visit, due to conditions in our city.
These conditions also prompted us to meet in person with Rep. Dale Strong to get his ideas on other cities in the district. He insisted that Decatur would be best and to stick it out!
With new DPD Leadership and an immanent new administration, our Chilean SHERPA Institute colleague* is visiting Decatur through July 4th, so we are eager to reinvigorate this initiative!
*Marcelo Pinto is a SHERPA Institute colleague who runs projects in South America, remotely, and periodically in USA and other countries.
We flew him up to assist with fielding our bilingual survey for Spanish-speaking respondents, and develop a strong strategy.
