"Magic in a Drop of Water"

Join the Etowah River Keepers for a short storytime followed by a themed activity! They will read "Magic in a Drop of Water" by Julie Winterbottom and then together help build a 'river'. The kids will learn about of the components of a river and the valuable resources found in the Etowah Watershed. The kids will help create the river by adding rocks, vegetation, benthic macroinvertebrates and fish (especially darters – Etowah, Rainbow, and Cherokee). Then we start adding in human influences such as dirt, fertilizer and pesticides. We will learn how pollution affects the water quality and how pollution moves downstream.
Tickets will be handed out first come, first serve 30 minutes prior to the event start time.
