Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair (DAAF) warmly invites you to explore our series of Masterclass events as part of the 2025 Public Program. Learn from the masters and be guided and inspired by DAAF’s incredible artists and makers as they share their stories and knowledge of both ancient and contemporary techniques - and take home your own piece from the Fair!
Artist Jimmy John Thaiday lives and works on Erub island in Zenadth Kes/Torres Strait, where his practice includes woven ghost net sculptures. In this masterclass, you’ll Join Jimmy John Thaiday for a hands-on creative adventure working with ghost nets!
With all materials provided in your kit, you’ll get to make your very own unique sculpture to take home.
DAAF’s Public Program Masterclasses have been developed with both artist and participant experiences in mind. Masterclasses have a three hour time slot allocated so that participants can feel comfortable and grasp new techniques with confidence. Participant numbers are also capped to ensure an intimate experience.
