Casa Amarela - Port Barrel Aged Imperial Stout - 12.5% ABV
Casa Amarela is Port Barrel Aged Imperial Stout, and much like a well aged stout, Port gets better with age. It has sat in barrel for “28 MONTHS” absorbing all the rich complexity, flavor, terroir, and history of what Port wine truly is. Port has often been described as a dessert wine and this beer beautifully encapsulates the things that I love about a well aged Port Wine. A mocha tawny persistent tight head entices the olfactory. Notes of rich dark molasses, licorice, charred oak, burnt caramel, fudgy brownie, dark cherry, raspberry, and fresh shaved vanilla come at you with such delight.
Upon that first sip all those lavish aromatics come dancing on the tongue with even more prowess. Big gooey fudge, raisins, bread pudding, stone fruit, cinnamon sticks, chocolate covered cherries, an umami saltiness, charcoal, sweet tobacco, more fresh shaved vanilla, and cocoa nibs blend it all together. After all that, a delicate charred dryness taunts the pallet asking you to come back for more.
