Bealey Spur To The Hut (Easy/Moderate)

Come join us for a Easy/Moderate grade day trip led by Michael Newlove.

The trip will start by the baches at Bealey Spur next to the main road, and climb up through sheltering beech forest. On the way to the charming old musterers hut at around 1240m, the ridge opens up in places, providing good views over the Waimakariri River and up to the Main Divide. There could be snow in open areas, so bring warm clothing and as well, walking poles and gaiters would be useful. Return trip around 14kms and 500m height gain.
