🇻🇳 1802 – 1945: Nguyen Dynasty ruled; then colonized by France, later occupied by Japan.
🇻🇳 1945: Ho Chi Minh declared independence after WWII; First Indochina War against France began.
🇻🇳 1954: Dien Bien Phu victory led to France’s withdrawal; Vietnam temporarily divided at 17th parallel.
🇻🇳 1955 – 1973: Vietnam War against the US with heavy bombing & casualties.
🇻🇳 1975: Fall of Saigon marked Vietnam’s reunification.
