Aug. 17: Flower Communion
Lay-Led by Jennifer Ober
This Flower Communion Service was created by Norbert Capek
(1870-1942), who founded the Unitarian Church in Czechoslovakia. The
traditional Christian communion service with bread and wine was
unacceptable to the members of his congregation. So he turned to the native
beauty of their countryside and introduced the Flower Communion Service to
our faith.
On this Sunday, bring a flower to share. During communion you will select a
flower that speaks to you. A different one from the one you brought. Let us
share in this Unitarian Universalist ritual of oneness and love. If you are unable
to bring your own flower, we will have one for you to share.
Please join us after the service for coffee and conversation at our Elm Street address.
