Description:
Josie Anne Luevano’s life was cut short due to hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN), a condition that tragically went undiagnosed and untreated, depriving her of the blood transfusions she needed to survive. On June 21st we are honoring Josie’s life and raising awareness about HDFN for her second heavenly birthday. Blood donation is a lifeline for those affected by HDFN. It represents far more than an act of kindness, it represents life and hope for families like Josie’s.
You Can be Part of The Solution!
Josie’s story underscores the urgency of blood donation and the impact of undiagnosed HDFN. Join us in spreading awareness, supporting families, and giving every baby a chance to thrive.

By donating blood or contributing to the Allo Hope Foundation, you become part of our lifesaving mission. Together, we can ensure that no family faces the devastating loss that Josie’s family experienced, and provide hope to those impacted by HDFN.
The Allo Hope Foundation:
The Allo Hope Foundation provides crucial support to families impacted by HDFN, promotes education and quality care, and strives to eliminate stillbirths caused by HDFN worldwide. AHF offers patient counsel, provider education, global speaking engagements, and access to care for HDFN in underdeveloped countries.
Why Blood Donation is Crucial for Alloimmunization and HDFN:
Some pregnant mothers develop antibodies after being exposed to a blood type that is different from their own, a condition called maternal red cell alloimmunization. The mother’s antibodies can attack her baby’s blood during pregnancy, leading to a condition called hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN). Babies affected by HDFN can become anemic and require multiple blood transfusions both in utero and after birth. Some babies with severe disease may need intrauterine blood transfusions as early as 15 weeks gestation. Without these blood transfusions they face severe anemia and eventually death and it is estimated that 160,000 babies die annually from HDFN. Awareness is key to a baby’s survival.
Please join us in making a difference and honoring Josie’s legacy.
All blood donors will receive a $20 gift card and event T-shirt!
