Jeni’s Steps to Overdose Awareness ; Honouring those Gone Too Soon

August 31 is International Overdose Awareness Day. A space to honour those we lost to overdose and the toxic drug crisis. This will be my 8th year holding space for those we lost in one form or another for those lost to overdose, toxic drugs and anything mental health related. I will have a table set up at the start of the Crofton Sea walk near museum, with sone information, free Naloxone kits, purple ribbons and glue stick necklaces for the walk at dusk. I will also be accepting non-perishable food items or cash donations for the Cowichan Valley Basket Society as I feel many who struggle in Duncan use it as a life line. For others who have lost someone dear, I encourage you to bring a photo, or if you care to say a few words about your lost loved one’s or share anything about them there will be space. I will also have a piece of driftwood painted purple you can add your loved one’s name or crazy glue something onto it and we can place it in the water before the walk.
